Trevor Osborne began his development activities at the age of 21 years after leaving Local Government in 1965. Initially small scale residential and commercial developments led to the formation of Speyhawk in 1973. With the growth in his business, and the size of his projects, it achieved a listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1981. In addition, for ten years he was the founding Chairman of St. George Plc, the prominent London housing developer.

Trevor Osborne's development activity is now conducted through The Trevor Osborne Property Group Limited, itself formed in 1973, and embraces mixed-use, commercial, leisure and residential projects, often in historical buildings, as well as property investment. The Company often engages as development partner with Councils and other public sector organisations.

From 1991-92 he was the President of the British Property Federation and from 1987-1990 was the British Property Federation visiting Fellow of the Land Management Course at the University of Reading. From 1980-1982 he was the Leader of Wokingham District Council.

He served as a Commissioner of the Royal Fine Art Commission as well as being Chairman of the Urban Villages Forum which role he occupied since its conception in 1989 and the founding of the Forum in 1992 until 199
